Permanent buildings may take a long time to build, especially including planning permission, and they may be built for a very specific purpose. With other buildings though it is flexibility you need and this may include the use of a building and being able to relocate it that is important. The speed that they can be put up and be in usable conditions may also be important and these same buildings are often much cheaper to build. Durability you may expect won't be as good as more expensive buildings but with proper care and repairs these types of buildings can last for many decades at least.
Shelters that can be easily put up and taken down and then relocated are ideal for a lot of different applications but not least use on farms. Farms run very much in line with the seasons and different work is done at different times of year: this means storage needs change. As a great example on a farm you may need a shelter for animals out in the fields grazing to protect them from the sun in the summer and then when the livestock are being kept indoors in perhaps more permanent buildings in the winter the shelter is ideal for protecting either vehicles and equipment that need protecting from the wind, rain and snow or of course hay and fodder: that there will be large quantities of stored in the winter to feed those animals.
These easily movable shelters tend to be made of metal loops or trusses, depending on size, with a waterproof fabric membrane over it, this is a thick material though well attached so it is much more durable than a tent or a marquee and makes the inside feel much more like a permanent building.
These shelters are just as useful for building companies and building sites though, building sites are temporary so structures used during the building must be temporary as well. A shelter needs to be put up quickly and then may even be moved around depending on space while work is being done. A shelter may be needed though for vehicles to be protected, for raw materials and building materials to be stored and also as a shelter to work under and to protect work in progress.
At events as well these shelters are ideal, they can be used like a giant marquee but can give huge indoor areas: areas big enough to hold music concerts in fact or as an extra hall at a conference centre.
Less easily moved are galvanized steel structures: these will last much longer as well though and are flexible in other ways. They are still ideal for a wide range of applications including sheltering equipment and materials but look more like a permanent building. They can be put up quickly still though with a low cost. With added lighting, insulation and electricity they can even be used as offices and for keeping livestock in over the winter with heating easily added. These make great site offices either permanently or for long-term projects: they can be dissembled and moved but not as easily as fabric covered shelters.
